As a teacher, I believe that is my obligation to enter the classroom every day with only the highest of expectations for every student. My philosophy is that with dedication, perseverance, and hard work all students will succeed. I believe that every child is unique and thrives in a secure, caring, and stimulating atmosphere in which they can grow and mature. It is my desire as an educator to help students meet their fullest potential as well as provide an environment that is safe, supports risk-taking, and invites a sharing of ideas. I believe that children learn at different rates and in different ways, so as a teacher, I will use a wide variety of strategies and materials to meet the needs and learning styles of all of my students.
My goal is to help all students develop a deep love and respect for themselves as well as others and allow an open sharing of their ideas along with a sensible approach to discipline. It is important for students to feel free to express themselves. By setting fair and consistent rules and having an understanding and importance of each activity, students are shown respect for their presence and time. In turn they learn to respect themselves, others, and their environment. Mutual respect is very important in establishing a classroom environment where students feel safe to take risks as it is a very necessary part of the learning process.
I plan to get to know each of my students, their interests, what motivates them and how they behave in different settings. This knowledge will be assist me in establishing a good rapport with my students, as well as in knowing the kinds of things that will be helpful in getting them to become engaged in the learning process. By getting to know my students will help me to achieve my goal of seeing that each student experiences success in some way each day.
I will embrace the diversity of our society (race, ethnicity, gender, ability level, learning disabilities, special needs, economic status, exceptionalities, learning style, etc.). I believe in utilizing the diversity of our classroom and our school community to enrich the learning process in my classroom.
Students need to feel that they are important and have own their individual talents. It is detrimental for the success of a child’s education that faculty, parents, and the school community work together to create a productive and successful learning environment.
My goal is to be open-minded, flexible, have a positive attitude as well as high expectations. I will bring consistency, diligence, and warmth to my job in the hope that I can ultimately inspire and encourage such traits in the children as well. I will provide the highest quality instruction that meets the needs of all students.
